Attendance Policy

At Farmington Public Schools, we know that regular attendance is key to your child’s success. Each day in class builds important learning and connections, and when students are present, they are best prepared to reach their full potential.

The responsibility for student attendance rests with parents and students. There is no substitute for actual attendance. Academic activities, student-student interactions, student-teacher interactions, lectures, exercises and drills, project/lab work, and assessments, are all vital to academic success and learning. Successful completion of coursework at Central High School is two-fold: the student must meet both the academic and engagement standards required by FPS and the State of Michigan. Excessive attendance concerns/misbehavior may result in an Oakland County Family Services referral, and/or in-school suspension or out-of- school suspension. Thank you for partnering with us to support consistent attendance and help your child thrive.
